Sewing 101

It was just an ordinary Monday night. I came back home at 8:30 in the evening, ate dinner and took some rest. I was caught in boredom while waiting for my favorite dramas on TV.

Then, suddenly, a spark of idea flicked in my mind. I wanted to try to do something very new. So I scavenged some stuffs from my lola's old box and ola! I found some pieces of fabrics I could use for materializing my desire to create some self-made clothes.

*Sewing 101 mode*

I grabbed the light aqua fabric and trimmed a simple pattern from it (a very simple, yet suitable for novice like me). Unsure of what to do, I asked my lola about how to run the sewing machine. It was indeed my first time to run a sewing machine with a *little* success. hahaha.. I must admit that it was so tough to run the machine. The thread sometimes ripped off causing the machine to jam. But It didn't stop me from pursuing my desire to learn. =D

I tried and gave my best to make a nice blouse. Basically, I just experimented. I was able to make an oversized plain shoulder-strap blouse. But I wasn't satisfied with the outcome at all.
It was already 1 am, tired and sleepy, but I wanted to finish my first-ever trial and error project with some glamour. So I spent another two hours to make it a little bit presentable. I embellished it with a lace and an adjustable tie and made an inch wide strap. And... (drum beat).... I finished my first ever self-made blouse with success.

As soon as I had the finished product, I enthusiastically tried it on. But I noticed that it was too simple, so, I added some accessories. Next time, I'll wear it and post a picture.

So here is the final product!

A piece of an art

While I was waiting for my student to log-in for our lesson, I spent my time browsing some interesting arts and crafts projects. I really dont know why, but I really had strong affinity with arts and crafts and all that since I was young. Fortunately, I came upon the website of Jo-ann (check http://www.joann.com/) which has full off ideas and wide range of free arts and crafts projects for people who share the same interest with her. Ironically, I just don't like her name though (hahaha, it just reminds me of someone whom I never really liked from the start). Actually, the website does not only offer free projects but also it is also an online shop where people could also buy some materials they might probably need.

Interstingly, I saw a picture of a model of decoupage Monograms which spelled my name "KIM".

Kadayawan 2010 Holiday

It was gloomy yesterday and was drizzling in the afternoon. It was far inviting to go out and enjoy a day off to celebrate Kadayawan Festival in Davao City. However, since it only happens once in year, I didn't want to miss the opportunity to meet my friends to have fun with them. However, the main events in Kadayawan Festival are usually held on Saturdays and Sundays -- the indak-indak sa kadalanan (The street dancing) and the Floral Parade.

It was around 4 pm when I was able to have my very first meal for the day in one of my most favorite restaurants -- Majid's Persian Kabab (yes it is spelled as "kabab" and not "kebab"). I super love their Chicken Biryani meal. Eventhough I was already hypoglycemic, I patiently waited for my order because I was sure that I would really have a satisfying meal. Indeed, a must-try when you'll go to Davao City.

While walking around the shopping mall, I was able to see Maja Salvador (Philippine popular young actress). hahahaha.. =D She is averagely pretty compared to other actresses in the Philippines.

It was already 7:30 pm when my friends arrived. We had our dinner at KFC. As usual, I ordered one-piece original chicken meal with mocha krusher.. Yummy. =D Another chicken for the day.

After dinner we immediately rushed to the cinema to catch the last full show of the movie "expendables". Although all-star casts, I rate it 6/10.

At around 11 pm, we went straight to Cups and Lower Cases. We had couple of beers and drinks and paired it with a pizza (thanks to Milai for that =D).. However, we swore not to order that very same pizza next time. In short, it wasn't too good for our taste.. hahaha.. Peace.

I was able to go back home at 2 am, feeling tired and sleepy. But I really had a blast of time. Thanks to Champooks. =D

The sweetest chocolates

I was awakened by the sharp loud cry of my cousin's dearest baby girl and I just couldn't help myself but to get up and carry her in my arms. I still felt so tired and sleepy yet I couldn't resist the most alluring and charming smile of her. I simply found myself smiling back.
I went out of the room and had a cup of coffee just as I always do everyday. While I was sipping my cup of coffee, I silently reminded myself to be in a hurry for I only had about 2 hours left to prepare for my work.
The day was so bright and clear yet I wasn't so delighted to go somewhere when it was around 34 degrees outside. I lazily took a bath, prepared myself and I was so surprised to see that I only had 30 minutes left to travel to work. So I walked as fast as I could to be able to get there just in time. =D
While I was on my way to work, I received a text message from my bestfriend ex-officemate (ex because she just resigned few days ago) asking me If I would be available at 2 pm. It took time for me to text her back. I knew that I would be tied up in my work until 5 pm. It was only 10 minutes left when I finally decided to be absent in my work. I texted the staff and alibied that I wasn't feeling so well last night so it prompted me to seek for a doctor's consultation. (The only thing I lied about was "I consulted a doctor", "feeling not so well last night" was a real thing.) =D I felt bit guilty about it, however, I convinced myself that perhaps it would only be my chance to meet her before she'll finally leave to somewhere far.
It was still so early so I asked my boyfriend to have lunch with me while I waited for the time to pass until 2 pm.
when it was already 2 pm, I rushed off to the Mall to meet my friend. The heat was scorching. It felt like I was wearing a newly pressed clothings--so hot and prickly. I was under the sun for about 20 minutes, I thought that the sunscreen lotion wasn't too effective enough for such weather. I was able to feel the soothing coolness of the airconditioner when I finally stepped my foot in the entrance door of the shopping mall. I was such a relief. I didn't waste time and soon met my friend.
I definitely felt happy to see her again after quite a long time. I realized how much I missed her. I missed our chatting-in-the-skype sessions while working. And most of all, I simply missed our time together.
We went around the shopping mall looking for some good clothes . It has always been girls' favorite thing to do. =D Soon we both felt tired, ended up eating in the all-time-favorite Mc Donald's restaurant. =D. We were chatting and updating each other with the latest happenings we both missed. And I just knew some few very surprising secrets (which of course I couldn't tell in here). Hahaha.. It was already 6 pm when we decided to leave, but before we stood up, she handed me a small parcel filled with some chocolates. We walked along San Pedro street to meet our respective dearest boys and finally bid goodbye.
When I arrived home, I took out the parcel and saw some chocolates. To be exact, I received 5 bars of chocolates. Two of them caught my attention and both picked them up. I was so surprised to see a Cadbury SMS. She was so sweet to intentionally give me those two with messages on it. One has a "Thank you" message and the other has "Friends Forever." The messages were so simple but were so moving. I was so touched and I surely agreed that we will really be friends forever, no matter what.

This is a picture taken from cadbury sms official website. The ones I received were exactly the same except for the messages printed were different as I mentioned a while ago. Sadly, I wasn't able to take a picture of the bars my friend gave me. It was already too late for me to realize that I should have done it. However, I kept the original wrappers with me since chocolate wrappers and boxes is one of my biggest collections. If I have time to take a picture of them, I'll surely post it here soon.

My sweetest return

It has been so long time since I updated this blog. I was just so busy these past few months. However, since I really love sharing my thoughts, I finally decided to come back and write whatever I feel and want to.

Actually, I really missed this so much. I am always very free to put my feelings into writings. This is one way for me to express myself without restraints. I couldn't care less about how people would react to everything they read from here.

I always am free-spirited when I am alone (literally) with nothing but my pc with me.

I am really looking forward to have more writings as possible as I can.
